The Story: Son of Arthur's niece, Caradoc was born out of an adulterous affair. He imprisons his mother in a tower to keep her from her lover, who is a sorcerer. But the sorcerer rescues her, and the two curse Caradoc by affixing a deadly snake to him to slowly drain his strength over two years. He is saved by a maiden, Guigner, and her brother; Caradoc had recused the maiden in a previous situation. They remove the snake through a rather strange setup: Guigner sits in a vat of milk and Caradoc in vinegar. When the snake lets go of Caradoc to attach to Guigner, her brother cuts off the snake's head.
