About the Colorway (Courtly Love: 2 stripes)
Multifaceted, love covers a range of emotions, from a softer, more romantic type of love (pink) to a more passionate love (red). Inspired by Valentine's Day (although not exclusive to the holiday), this two-stripe colorway is easy for you to fall in love with.
The Story Behind the Colorway Name
Courtly love was a concept developed by French poets (troubadours) in the 11th century and was ideally practiced by nobles. Rather than a sexual relationship, courtly love was often platonic although it was often secret and had to exist outside a marriage (though there were debates about these idea). Usually the lady in this relationship was seen as out of reach and was put on a pedestal (figuratively) so the man (usually a knight) could be inspired by her to do great deeds. The Art of Courtly Love by Andreas Capellanus was one of the most widely read books at both the French and English courts in the Middle Ages.
